The oak table came to us from a woman who inherited it after her father passed. It has been in their family for as long as she can remember, and is estimated to be from the early 20th century. The oak cane-seat chairs were acquired locally. Their origin is unknown, but they are estimated to be from the same era as the table given their construction.
The table top was stripped of its original lacquer, lightly sanded (to preserve its hard-earned character), and sealed with tung oil for a natural, hand-rubbed finished. The table legs and chair frames were lightly painted with Fusion Mineral Paint in Victorian Lace, then sealed with Wise Owl Furniture Salve, as was the caning on the chair seats to moisturize and protect it for longevity.
