1930s Leather-Topped Campaign Desk

This solid wood, drop-leaf campaign table dates to the 1930s. It was purchased in metro Detroit from a woman whose grandmother was the original owner, and who used this table as a volunteer for the election campaign of a local judge.

The dated and chipping finish was removed, and the top was sealed with a clear top coat to let the natural wood shine through. To complement the black leather panels, the legs and case were painted classic black and finished with wax, then buffed to a soft sheen. The brass hardware was removed and cleaned, and the leather panels were conditioned with a moisturizing salve to restore their original beauty.
