This 95-year old gossip bench is the most well-preserved piece of its age we've ever seen. Gossip benches were commonplace during the early days of the telephone; they provided convenient seating for long conversations next to a phone placed on the small tabletop. This one was purchaed from an 80-year old woman who inherited it from her Great Aunt Gertrude, to whom it originally belonged. She remembers sitting on it as a young girl! The wood was in terrific shape so was simply cleaned and oiled, but the (original!) upholstery needed an update. A funky off-white floral print on a faded charcoal backround adds just the right contemporary touch. The throw pillow was created using the original fabric that was rescued prior to reupholstery. This elegant lady is truly special - she's all dressed up and is ready to become a conversation piece in your home!
