This midcentury gossip bench offers the perfect combination of neutral tones that will complement any décor! The wood veneer along its drum top (a common feature of midcentury pieces) offered both artistic and design interest, so we opted to leave it in its natural state. The rest of the bench was painted a soft, pale gray to enhance the contrast with the dark wood. Fabric with a simple, elegant tobacco leaf print in creamy gray and brown tones accentuates both the painted and natural wood surfaces. This one's a total charmer!

This bench dates to the midcentury - likely the 1950s - though its exact age and origin are unknown. It was found in a collection belonging to the seller's late husband.
The wood veneer of the drum top was in excellent shape and offered both artistic and design interest, so was left in its natural state. Teh rest of the bench was sanded, primed, and painted with Wise Owl Chalk Synthesis Paint in "Limestone" - a soft, dreamy gray. Both the painted and wood surfaces were sealed with Wise Owl Salve in Tobacco Flower and Cozy Currant. For the seat, a new layer of organic cotton batting was added to the existing foam, covered in a layer of cotton muslin, then topped with fabric featuring a simple tobacco leaf print in creamy grays and browns.
