This family piece was acquired locally from an estate sale in Detroit.
The top was stripped of its dreary midcentury finish, sanded, then sealed with a combination of a paint wash (using Fusion Mineral Paint in Algonquin) and multiple coats of Fusion Stain & Finishing Oil in White and Natural for surface durability. The dated brass embellishments were removed from the casing, which was painted a deep charcoal (Fusion Mineral Paint in Ash) and sealed with hemp oil. The cabinet interior was painted with Fusion's Cathedral Taupe, and the pack panel was lined with textured wallpaper then painted in the same shade. The velvet-lined drawer was cleaned, and the original brass door knobs were removed, cleaned and shined, then replaced. [Artisan: ABP]
