Refinished 1930s Solid Wood Desk

This writing desk originally belonged to a gentleman who used it to attend law school in the 1930s, and then from 1944-1968 in his career with the State Department. It had been in the family ever since.

After three generations of use, it arrived to us in extremely "well-loved" condition. Once the drawers were repaired, the body was treated to a balanced, mid-tone gray-green: Fusion Mineral Paint in Everett. The top was stripped, sanded, and refinished using Fusion's Stain & Finishing Oil in Cappuccino, then the entire piece was sealed with Wise Owl Furniture Salve. Finally, the original wooden knobs were replaced with smart, updated matte black metal ones, and the top drawer was lined with a black and white houndstooth fabric. [Artisan: SR]
