Refurbished Hand-Carved Antique Arm Chair

This turn-of-the-century chair was acquired locally. It belonged to the seller's grandmother, a German immigrant who settled in metro Detroit. During WWII her brother fought for Germany and her husband fought for the U.S. At their wedding she wore a dress made from the parachute used in her husband's war plane!
Nearly every inch of this chair was refurbished. First, the damaged original upholstery, padding, and webbing was removed. The entire wood frame was stripped, sanded, and reconditioned using tung oil for a warm, burnished glow. New webbing, cotton batting, and muslin was added, then the padded surfaces (seat cushion, both sides of the seat back, and arm rests) were upholstered with a luxe floral print fabric and finished with custom double welting.
