Solid Oak, Slate-Topped Lamp Table

This midcentury, solid oak lamp table was made by Globe Furniture, out of High Point, North Carolina. It likely dates to the 1960s, though its specific date and origin are unknown. We have reason to believe that it was in the same Washtenaw County home since the day it was purchased!

The dark wood stain was stripped off to reveal the interesting grain of the oak. The natural wood was left in tact on the tabletop and drawer front to show off the unique dovetail detailing, then the case was painted a soft white for a touch of modernization. The curvy, sturdy legs were painted black to complement the black slate top. The original hardware was cleaned and painted matte black, and the large roomy drawer lined in a simple black and white checked fabric.  [Artisan: Liz]
