This stunning, solid wood gossip bench is unlike any we've ever done. Underneath a thick layer of dark, heavy, glossy varnish was gorgeosuly textured wood grain just bursting to seen! This bench was acquired locally. Its exact age and origin are unknown, but the rose back design was popular in the 1930s and 1940s.
The bench was stripped and sanded, and stripped and sanded, h4n then stripped and sanded some more! The luscious natural wood grain needed nothing more than hemp oil and Wise Owl Furniture Salve. The desk top was given a light coat of stain to even out the color a bit. The existing seat padding was replaced with layers of organic cotton batting and a layer of cotton muslin to make future reupholstery a snap. The the seat was covered in a luxe moss green chenille fabric. [Artisan: ABP]
