Lane manufactured several styles of record cabinets from the midcentury forward. Based on the more traditional style of this one, we estimate that it dates to the 1970s.
The near-perfect but deeply uninspiring original finish was painted in a deep blue-green Wise Owl paint appropriately called Abyss. A coating of Wise Owl black pearl glaze - like a leather jacket - toughens it up and gives it some depth. The original floral hardware were replaced with a pair of vintage record-inspired knobs that are more in line with what a hipster vinyl cabinet should wear. [Artisan: Liz]
